Big Bend Elopement | Guide

So you want to elope in Big Bend National Park and why wouldn’t you?

Big Bend is absolutely beautiful! It’s landscapes are vast and varies from the open desert, to canyons, to lush foliage near the river. It offers countless opportunities to have a beautiful and unique ceremony.

Some of my top favorite ceremony spots include:

Santa Elena Canyon – This location offers you stunning views of the canyon walls. On the left side is Mexico and on the right side is the United States with the Rio Grande River running in between. Hands down, it was one of my favorites spots and my goodness it is a breathtaking backdrop for your elopement ceremony. It is a more popular location.

Tuff Canyon – It is a small trailhead off the side of the road and is a fairly quiet area. At the top of the canyon, there are multiple overlook spots and you have beautiful views of the Chisos Mountains in the distance. With a small hike down, you can enter into the canyon and have unique backdrops for your photographs.

Here are a few tips to consider as you plan for your Big Bend National Park Elopement

The summers there are unforgiving with extreme temperatures. The best time to elope is in the Spring and Fall when the days are mild and the nights are cool.

Peak visitor season is during March and temperatures can start climbing as we enter April. A sunrise or sunset ceremony can help you avoid crowds and will offer cooler temperatures. Not to mention, you will have amazing light and a beautiful view.

Start hydrating at least 24 hours before your adventure elopement in Big Bend and plan to carry at least a gallon of water for the day of. You do not want to get dehydrated on your big day!

Be sure you plan enough time for the activities you want to include. Big Bend is a large park and there can be long drive times between trailheads.

Big Bend National Park requires permits for elopement and wedding ceremonies within the park. You will want to apply for that permit as soon as you know your date to allow ample amount of time for processing.

I know this may seem like a lot to take into account, but remember, this is what I am here for! I will help you plan every step of the way and I will be there to prepare you for the adventure we are about to embark on!
